#PUBLIC OPINION

In the aftermath of breaking news or when a tragic event happens people are not short on their opinion and everyone is a critic inclined to find fault. Public Opinion, can shape an public official's decision and being politically correct, to not offend has become the rule. This November the election for the presidency held an arsenal of personal attacks which sparked many forms of protest and 'public opinion'. The Black Lives Matter movement is a present reminder of 'police brutality' and many speculate as to why. The threat of terrorism has become part of our culture with a conclusion of guesswork by 'public opinion'. The process of passing judgement, some become judgmental and have the tendency to judge harshly. On September 21, 2016 a evil act was reported in the news, people were outraged to hear that a estranged husband and father murdered 4 children and tortured their mother. There was an overwhelming expression of love, support, and generosity towards the mother and family. However, as the journey of healing began, this grieving mother was attacked by 'public opinion'. The fact that this mother had endured an catastrophic loss, was not enough to keep peoples insensitive comments to themselves. Everyone has something to say when its someone else, but when its them, they want and ask for privacy. With just a piece of information, people make statements as if they were an expert. Without carefully studying of the facts 'public opinion' is just an opinion from little to no evidence. It is amazing how people can come up with a laundry-list of advise for victims. Blaming the victim for being victimized is like, blaming a person for being raped or being diagnosed with cancer. It is clearly not their fault and its nothing they could have done or not done to change things when evil happens. My message to this mother as she seeks some form of normalcy as much as she can: "Be careful where you stop to inquire direction along the road of life to your healing, not everyone has the right to speak into your life. Do not pay mental-rent to those who are not going anywhere, who just have a mouth. You are certain to get the worst bargain when exchanging ideas with the wrong person. In closing, never discuss your problems with someone incapable of contributing to the solution, because those who never succeed themselves are always the first to tell you how. Know, that I love you and that I am praying for you and forever here for you.
*Out of respect for the victim, family, and their privacy, their names were not used.

Be kind and compassionate to one another. Ephesians 4:32
